New baby is here!
Hi everyone,
Just a quick note to let you know that my new niece arrived safe-and-sound yesterday. Both mother and daughter are doing very well. (It remains to be seen how big sister is going to do.)
For the meantime, though, big sister doesn't mind too much because she has a new game. Running.
Here's how you play:
Step one (optional, but preferred): take off all clothes (which makes this an ideal pre and post bathtime game)
Step two: run around in circles counter-clockwise. If you try to run clockwise then you should get REALLY confused and start crying.
Step three: yell "Aunt Ally run, too!"
Step four: if Aunt Ally refuses to run, start crying.
Step five: fall down and yell "Aunt Ally fall down too!" (repeat crying process if necessary.)
Step six: Get to feet again and yell "Aunt Ally get up!"
Step seven: Repeat until Aunt Ally is so sore and dizzy she almost throws up on the new Pottery Barn Kids rug.
Try it at home. It's hours and hours of fun and guaranteed to get you as much exercise as a high school football team doing two-a-days.
Have a great week, everybody. And thanks for all your kind wishes and prayers for the baby's safe arrival.
later,
(Aunt) Ally, the (fully-clothed) runner/faller-downer/getter-upper

Whew! That wore me out just reading it! :)
I'm glad little sister made a safe arrival.
Welcome to the world, baby girl.
I know how you feel. I used to have a game with the two (verrrry hyper) little boys I babysat in my teens. The game was called "Knock Down Kristy." I don't really need to explain the concept, do I? No, I thought not.
Congrats to your sister on the new baby!
Congrats! What's the baby's name?
Oh, congratulations, Aunt Ally! With such young nieces, I imagine you to have developed a new, extreme kind of patience. And I admire that.
I know what game we're playing next time we go to lunch.
