Cracking up...

Confession time: I know pride is a sin, but I'm really, really proud of how cool the code turned out for the GG2 title contest. It's literally just a long list of numbers that, if you know what you're doing, will lead you to the title of the next Gallagher Girls book.

It's a real code.

Actual spies have used this actual technique to convey actual secrets.

I'm soooo proud!

Now that I have the code, my thoughts turn to the details.

Are you like me? Are you ready for someone to blow the lid off of the book contest arena?

I want people everywhere talking about this contest and these prizes, but I'm pretty sure I need some help.

So I'm running this stuff by you--the potential Gallagher Girls (and guys) of the world, to help me out.

CATEGORIES:

I'm thinking about maybe doing categories in which you can enter.

For example, there might be a category for individuals, one for teams, one for entire classes so if, for instance, a math class were to try to crack the code...or an English class...the class might win the prize.

Here are the categories I have so far:

*individuals over 18 years of age (as of Nov. 7, 2006)

*individuals 18 years of age and under (as of Nov. 7, 2006)

* small groups

* class/school project (for classes)

* "just for fun" for people who hate numbers but do excel at thinking up crazy potential titles

(you may only enter in one category!)

PRIZES

These are the prizes I've thought of thus far. Please let me know how you'd rank them and if you have any other ideas.

*gift cards for books (in varying degrees of value--some being worth quite a bit of $)

*gift cards for Subway (the official sandwich of AllyCarter.com). (Not really, but Subway people, if you want to talk, I'll listen.)

*being mentioned in the dedication of Gallagher Girls 2.

*winning an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of book 2 which means you'll know what happens months before everyone else.

*And for the school/class competition, how would it be to win a visit from me? (maybe in person? Maybe online?)

*winning a copy of every Hyperion YA book published this year

Let's start the discussion, people! This code is burning a hole in my pocket.

(but not literally.)

Those all sound like great prizes! Gift cards for books and/or all the Hyperion YA titles for the year would be #1 for me. The class visit would be lowest on my list, but that's mainly because I'm no longer in school (that was a LOOOONG time ago). The ARC would probably be my second choice, or maybe Subway. Love their sandwiches.

Ally,

My kids' school has had some wonderful authors visit and I know they would be very excited to have you (you wrote a very cool book) so I'm positive any school would be ecstatic. I would want to go back to school on that day!

I think all of those prizes sound great! Personally, the class visit is lowest on my list, but that's only because I haven't been in school for ages. Very cool idea though!

1- Being mentioned in the dedication of Gallagher Girls 2
2- Winning a copy of every Hyperion YA book published this year
3- Winning an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of book 2
4- Gift cards for books (in varying degrees of value--some being worth quite a bit of $)
5- Gift cards for Subway
That's my list. I'm looking forward to reading Gallagher Girls 2!

Great Prizes! I'm so excited. So would um getting "help" from my brother be small groups? Haha. I stink at patterns, but I must attempt.

I like the whole idea! I will definitely try and crack the code. If I were to rank them in order they would be:
*being mentioned in the dedication of Gallagher Girls 2.

*winning a copy of every Hyperion YA book published this year

*gift cards for books (in varying degrees of value--some being worth quite a bit of $)

*gift cards for Subway (the official sandwich of AllyCarter.com). (Not really, but Subway people, if you want to talk, I'll listen.

*winning an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of book 2 which means you'll know what happens months before everyone else.

*And for the school/class competition, how would it be to win a visit from me? (maybe in person? Maybe online?)

They all sound really great. I would like the last one a lot, but my school isn't very active and they would never let us do something like that.

Ally, I just finished ITYILYBTIHTKY and e-mailed you, so I won't gush here.

I think all the prizes are great. But having JUST come out of the Academy, I'd say the very coolest prize would be a small part written into the book itself. Not so much for me, but for my daughter (who gets the book next). She'd love to answer a question in CoveOps or something. :)

How fun, I know my daughter's school would be all over a contest. Here's a thought...ever thought about writing a one or two line "walk in" or "cameo" spot for a contest winner? My daughter's idea.
