I wish I had the time and energy to blog properly about it, but I had a long, emotional day and just can't summon my inner commentary.
I will thank Belinda at All Things Literary for hosting me for a very fun chat last night (I think you can listen to all or part on their site!) Go check it out!
In other news, I have a favor to ask of those of you who consider yourself technologically-gifted.
You know I have Tivo.
You know I'm a TV addict.
As a TV addict with Tivo, I have obviously hooked my Tivo up so that I can both Tivo a show and watch live TV (on another channel) at the same time. This required "splitting" the signal with a thing I bought.
But my cable signal is so weak to begin with that by the time I split it in two, both signals are kinda fuzzy. Sometimes it's worse than others, but sometimes it's so bad I can't read things on the screen (like when vital information is revealed via written notes or newspaper headlines).
Does anyone else have this problem? Anyone have an idea how I can fix it without driving myself crazy?

Can't help on the technical front, but I am SO JEALOUS OF THE FACT THAT YOU GET TO WATCH VERONICA MARS THAT I CAN HARDLY STAND IT. No one in the UK has even heard of the show!
I LOVED THAT LINE in the show! Anyway, I can't really help with the TiVo situation. We have a DVR through our cable providor, and ours came standard that we have two channels (so can record two at once, record two and watch one that was recorded previously, etc---but with that we didn't have to install anything extra). But when we want to watch a third channel in real time (it has to be broadcast stations--can't be cable), all we have to do is switch the tv channel from 3 (or whatever your standard station is set up to your cable), to the broadcast station we want...and it records everything. Not sure if TiVo works differently.
Hope that made sense...
A good call to tech services at TiVo probably would help too.

Re the split signal issue, I have no clue. I used to be pretty savvy with techie stuff, but I've been having signal issues, too, and no idea how to fix them. So I can commiserate, but not help. :)
Ally - you can try a signal enhancer, but it's debated whether or not they actually work. The other thing you can try is to ask your cable provider to boost the signal. Here's a link to a discussion on the tivo forums about it. Hope that helps! I'm also a Tivo and TV junkie. ;)
