Today's question: greatest holiday movie ever?

I love movies. And I love the holidays. So is it any wonder that Holiday Movies are approximately my favorite thing ever.

My favorite? Miracle on 34th Street with little Natalie Wood. Oh, so much holiday goodness.

What about you?

#2: Home Alone; the first one, every year my cousins and I watch this!!

#3: The Santa Claus; what kid doesn't wish they could go to Santa's workshop?

#4: Elf; SANTA!!!!!!! I KNOW HIM!!! I KNOW HIM!!!!!!. Enough said.

#5: How the Grinch Stole Chrismas, cartoon; Who didn't wish they could have a piece of that roast beast?

#7: Rudolph: So cute! I love the jumpy animation, it makes me laugh!!

#8: Frosty the Snowman; This movie makes me cry, but it's really good!

#9: Jack Frost; Kind of sad, but really good! A classic!

#10: Christmas Vacation; It's not the best of the Vacation movies, but it's really good! Who doesn't love a fried cat???

Holiday Inn is my number one favorite must-have Christmas movie.

I also love The Christmas Story, It's a Wonderful Life, and whichever version of Christmas Carol stars Alistair Sims.

On the untraditional side: Scrooged, Santa Claus: The Movie, and The Ref.

(Also, the Lion in Winter is a Xmas movie, but I don't know if that's the point.)

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Christmas movies.

I'm very partial to the cheesy, romance ones, such as Christmas in Boston, Eve's Christmas, Recipe for a Perfect Christmas, A Boyfriend for Christmas, etc.

Basically any Christmas movie shown on ABC Family, Hallmark, and Lifetime networks.

All time favorites: Jack Frost, Home Alone, Elf, and Christmas Vacation.

Favorite one as a kid: The Night They Saved Christmas

I really could go on and on. I hardly ever find a Christmas movie I don't like.

That's easy. The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. Not the more recent live-action one, I hate that one, I like the cartoon version. The one that I would watch from my father's lap every Christmas when I was little, and when I got to big to sit in his lap, I would sit on the couch next to him.

Oh, and the Satna Claus is a really good too. As are Rudolph, The Christmas Without a Santa Claus, Jack Frost, Elf, The Polar Express, and Frosty the Snowman. But, the animated version of The Grinch Who Stope Christmas is my all time favorite. I look forward to it every year.

Oh, I love that film.

A Christmas Story is an all-time favorite among my family (not counting my husband). The sisters and I watch it together every Christmas Eve. Also, we enjoy National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. We all enjoy quoting our favorite lines from these movies.

Okay, I should read ALL the comments before I re-comment again.

Laurie, I agree about Love Actually. That movie is great, period. Christmas movie or not.

Another one I just remembered: Serendipity.

Without a doubt, the greatest of all times is IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE!!! It doesn't get any better than Jimmy Stewart! And the story itself--oh, I love the story! The angel, Clarence, is hysterical--especially when he and George are at the bar. Little ZuZu is precious--with her pretty flower! And I love the 'flashback' scene where George and Mary are in the dance competition--and the dance floor opens and they fall into the swimming pool below--and NEVER miss a beat! Then the ending--I LOVE IT! And it ALWAYS makes me cry! The way the whole town comes together to help George--it's so touching. Definitely--IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE--hands down!!!

Good question... my current fave Christmas movies are Love Actually and Christmas Vacation. I totally grew up on Christmas Vacation- both my parents LOVED it. And Love Actually is just such a good movie- I love the fact that there's a lobster in the nativity play.

"Scrooged," 1988. Bill Murray is the bomb. Oh, wait, I'm dating myself.

If you're counting old TV specials (and I know you're not), then I have to confess I have a terrible fondness for "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer." Herbie the Elf Who Wanted to be a Dentist was the first major Geek Who Wins In The End in claymation history. Or whatever that animation was in "Rudolph." What the heck did they use? It wasn't just clay, after all......

And like another poster, I love the old "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas." Mostly for Max, the dog. What a cutie!
