Cover girl

I've got a little bit of news...I've seen the Cross My Heart cover.. or an early version of the cover at least.

It's SOOOOO cute! They had to use a different model this time but you'd never really know.

I know some people wonder why book jackets frequently don't show all of the model's face, but I can think of two big advantages.

1. it's nice if people get to come up with their own idea of what a character looks like

2. if, like me, you're writing a sequel and if, like me, you have to change models in mid-stream, people are FAR less likely to freak out about it.

I haven't gotten permission to post the cover, but when I do, you can bet I'll do it ASAP.

Oh, and since it's been a while since we've done "question of the day" how's this:

What was your favorite book cover last year and why?

later gators,
Ally

Let's see... of what came out this past year year, I'd have to say my favourite covers (because I can't pick just one!) were :

(a) the cover to Stephenie Meyer's New Moon. It was very striking with the whole cover being the black, but the bright, vibrant colours of the flower in the centre. (So of course Twilight is one of my favourite covers as well, but that wasn't last year...)

(b) the cover of Diane Setterfield's The Thirteenth Tale. The font is sexy. The picture of the stacks of books is pretty, but the way that picture is cropped on the front cover... positively gorgeous.

i have to agreee that New Moon's cover was my favorite...i liked Twilight's cover the best (the apple and the hands made it very eerie) but New Moon is second.

Well, of course the Love You, Kill You book cover is completely AWESOME!!! LOL, just pointing out the obvious :) And I can't wait to see the Hope To Spy cover! I totally agree with whoever said Twilight and New Moon. (Even though Twilight didn't come out last year)The totally black background with the hands holding the apple in Twilight and the flower with a petal falling from it in New Moon is incredible!

Hmm, I didn't really like the book, but I thought Pretty Little Liars had a nice cover (not the back, though-- those models looked completely unbelievable as fifteen-year olds.) I also liked the cover for Back in Blue, the fourth Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants novel.

... Or maybe I just like yellow. There haven't been that many yellow covers before, and I think I was instantly drawn to both of the books because of their ostentatious color.

Well, I have two. It has to be yours and the warriors book, "Sunset". They were extra good.

Enthusiasm by Polly Shulman - The Ashleigh's energy and ensemble were just as they were described in the story, plus she had P&P in her hand, also matching the story.

I love the cover of best friends for never by lisi harrison cuz the plaid is AWESOME and I love the colors that she used. Also I think the models on the cover are really pretty. The one in the middle is ugly though. The one on the left side looks the best, but then there is the one on the right. I wouldn't pick her cuz u cant really c her whole face. But that is also my fave book so i would recomend that book to anyone. It is funny, inspiring, and it has to do with things that could happen to anybody in real life. u just have to picture urself as the character that is mostly like u!!!

So READ IT!!!
