Amelia Bloomer: a Gallagher Girl
Thanks to Little Willow for reminding me in the comments section that I'd Tell You I Love You but Then I'd Have to Kill You has been selected as a 2007 Amelia Bloomer List book by the Feminist Task Force of the Social Responsibilities Round Table of the American Library Association.
The Amelia Bloomer list recognizes books that are "looking to the past, present and future to bring to light girls and women who make a difference and take action to change the world." How great is that?
Even though I have to admit that as someone who is still relatively new to Young Adult literature I had not heard of the Amelia Bloomer list when I wrote LYKY, I must say that if I could write a book geared toward any ALA award area, this would be the one.
Books about girls taking action to change the world? Sign me up for that.
I'm honored to be included among these powerful titles and grateful to the hard work of the committee to bring this list to life.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
Ally

Dear Ally,
First of all, congratulations for making it to the list! Your book is definitely an inspiration. I recently discovered your blog and am very excited to know that you keep your fans up to date with everything. I guess I should introduce myself first, I'm Cornelia, I'm from Indonesia and I'm a freelance book translator in a local publishing company. They translate all the books they publish into Indonesian first, and one of the books I worked on was your book I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You.
I just want to say that I love that book a lot, and now I shall go hunt for a copy myself (because they only lent it to me for translation). I'm curious, do you by any chance watch the TV show Alias? Because as an obsessed Alias fan, I found your book as the perfect book for me to work on. If you take a peek in my blog, it's also designed with everything Alias (I'm sorry the entries are in Indonesian, though!).
Well, it was a wonderful opportunity being able to translate your book, and especially being able to tell you that directly. I'll definitely be keeping up with your blog and the developments of your other books. Oh, and I've always dreamt to be a writer too, so yeah, this is a really exciting opportunity. =D
P.S And I'm also excited to find you love Grey's Anatomy too! =D
Ally LOVES Alias!
That's awesome!!! Congratulations!!!
Congratulations on be chosen for the list! This was the award made for Ally Carter!
You are welcome! :)
Psst - have you heard about readergirlz? I think the Gallagher Girls would definitely take part!
