Just peachy

Hi all,

I'm thrilled to tell you all that I'D TELL YOU I LOVE YOU BUT THEN I'D HAVE TO KILL YOU has been nominated for the Georgia Peach Award--yea!

I love Georgia!

Have I mentioned that Designing Women is my favorite TV show ever? Do you know how much I love peach cobbler and vanilla ice cream?

It's always such a surprise and an honor to be included on state lists with so many books that I love and admire, so thank you, Georgia! I owe you one.

In other news, the Love You Kill You paperback will be out on April 1. In fact, I'm wondering if it might already be out in some stores because, unless you're Harry Potter, many stores will put a book out whenever it arrives instead of waiting on the official day.

I have to admit that I'm a little nervous about the paperback release. Hasn't everyone who was going to buy the book bought the book?

Of course I know that's not true. Personally, I love paperbacks. But am I alone? Don't know.

So here's the question of the day: what makes you buy a paperback? Is it different than a hardback? I know adult paperbacks are a lot cheaper, but for YAs there only seems to be a couple of bucks difference... Oh, the stress!

Later,
Ally

Paperbacks are cheaper. when a hardcover may be like $19, a paperback is more like $7-10. I usually get a hard cover at the library so i can read it, then buy the paperback!

ALLY!
Paperbacks are a LOT cheaper, so usually people won't buy hardcovers for that reason. Me? If I really want a book, I'll usually spring for the hardcover, but if it's not that important I'll wait for the paperback.
I bought LYKY hardcover, by the way.
And I will definitely be on LYKY paperback lookout.

Money aside, I prefer paperbacks because they're easier to cart around in my bag. And all around easier to hold/read.
Designing Women--I haven't thought about that show in forever. Loved it.

Paperbacks are WAAY cheaper here in Malaysia. But the hard cover looks nicer on my book shelves. LOL. I got the hardcover and it was awesome...

I have to go along with everyone else. It's a cost thing. Usually I'll wait for the paperback to come out, unless it's something I really, really want to read. Like LOVE YOU KILL YOU. :)

I find paperbacks less bulky and cumbersome. The price is a factor as well.

Ally, hardbacks drive me crazy. I'll buy a paperback even if it's *more* expensive (like the hardback is on the bargain rack for $5 already). I can't throw it in my purse, or bend it in half if I need to. And a hardback takes up too much room on my already crowded bookshelf.

I think you'll see more sales!

Oh, I almost never buy hardbacks. I think the only books I ever buy willingly in hardback, for a hardback price, are the Harry Potter books. Not only are they way more expensive, but I actually don't really like the feeling of reading hardback books. They're too stiff and tend to be hard to hold with one hand, and since I read while doing everything--eating, putting on my makeup, brushing my hair/teeth, etc.--I need that. So if a book I want comes out in cloth first, I either buy an ARC online because those are always paper, or I wait for them to release the paperback. It's a little crazy, I know, but I really tend to not like hardcover books.

I just saw your paperback at Waldenbooks in Newington, NH, so there are places putting it out. Didn't buy it as I'm trying to be good about spending money, but was soo tempted.

Congrats on the Georgia Peachy nomination too!

I agree, the main reason I don't get hardbacks is that they have such a weird feel. Also, I read my books to shreds, and I feel guilty if a nice hardcover book gets smudged or stained. Also, you can't bend them back as easily.
