What happens now
Many people have been asking me what I'll do now that CROSS MY HEART AND HOPE TO SPY is finished (sort of).
Well, the short story is that there will still be edits and proofreading and promotion for the book.
But I'm also going to make some time to do some non-book things. Like, for example...
I am thoroughly excited about Easter (and the opportunity to defend my world's greatest egg-hider title. And by the way, Abby, if you're reading this, you should know that my sister is STILL finding eggs in her flower beds!!!)
I am going to get my hair cut and highlighted, which is maybe the most exciting thing of all since it has been SIX MONTHS since I've had my hair cut and highlighted. That's right--I haven't had a free weekend in six months. And my hair has paid the price.
One word: taxes
There are many little fix-up things around the house that aren't going to do themselves.
I have about three different writing projects that may never see the light of day but I need to write them so that I can stop thinking about writing them.
I also intend to devote a great deal of time to the new TV Show in my life, the Black Donnellys. I know, I know, it's violent and maybe sends the wrong message about how to deal with life's problems...But if loving Tommy Donnelly is wrong, I don't want to be right!
Oh, and it'll probably be a full-time job freaking out about what people are going to think of the new book and anticipating all the "I didn't like it as much as the first one" comments that will show up online.
But I shouldn't think about that--I will--but I shouldn't.
Okay, my OSU cowboys are getting ready to play ball and, for the first time in MONTHS, I'm getting ready to watch them!
later,
Ally

Oh my gosh! The Black Donnely's is the best new show that I've started watching! I agree, a little bit violent, but Tommy is very handsome. Hope that you accomplish all of these things and more now that you have some free time!
Okay, so your blog just made me SUPER excited!!! I'm hoping this means that you WILL be in for Easter! Yay!!! BIG, BIG YAY!!!
As for defending your title as the world's greatest Easter egg hider, you've got that one in the bag. Hands down. You're amazing...and I will forever live in your shadow when it comes to hiding Easter eggs.
That cracks me up that she's STILL finding eggs! Their yard was PERFECT!!! And so "springy." Absolutely beautiful. That was so much fun...can't wait til this year! :)
will you be writing any more books in the same series after Cross My Heart...?
i know that i will like this one just as much if not more than the first one.
To the poster who asked whether there will be more Gallagher Girl books after CROSS MY HEART AND HOPE TO SPY. Well, the short answer is "I don't know."
IF the ideas I have for the book turn out to be good ideas (and I won't know until I start writing), and IF the books do well; and IF people enjoy the second as much as the first ; and IF I don't go insane from exhaustion, and pressure, and mental anguish; and IF I get out of the funk I've been in, then yes. If any of those things don't happen, then maybe not.
I wrote Cross My Heart as if the series will go on...so that's the idea. But nothing's set in stone.

Don't forget to watch Veronica Mars when it comes back from hiatus in May. The last episodes will be "standalone" and how they do will determine whether there is a 4th season or not. Ack! Everyone watch. There HAS to be a 4th season. I LOVE that show!
I just recently got addicted to The Black Donnellys as well and I have zero interest in being right either!
Wow. Also loving The Black Donnely's. And Veronica Mars - I second anon's plea.
Actually, I stopped by today b/c I'm putting a spy booklist together for my library, and it got me wondering if Cross My Heart was out yet - I want to put our order in ASAP! So, *sob*!
Can't Wait! Thanks!
