There's never any gopher barky barky when you need some...

Well, it's Bible School season and I'm sure a lot of you know what I mean by that.

Bible school was always a big deal when I was a kid because it meant store-bought cookies (which we NEVER had otherwise) and arts and crafts (at which my sister and I were so bad at our lame attempts are still commented upon), and, of course, big musical productions.

And since they are now officially evacuating part of my town due to flooding (luckily the part that's sheer across town from me), I can't seem to stop singing this particular blast from the past.

The Lord told Noah to build him an arky arky
The Lord told Noah to build him an arky arky
Build it out of
Gopher barky barky
Children of the Lord

The animals the animals they came in by twosies twosies
The animals the animals they came in by twosies twosies
Elephants and
Kanga Roosies Roosies
Children of the Lord

It rained and poured for forty daysies daysies
It rained and poured for forty daysies daysies
Almost drove those
Animals crazies crazies
Children of the Lord

(and then some more verses I can't seem to recall at the moment. Anyone out there know them? Amanda? Abby?)

Oh, and did I mention there were gestures? There were. Yes, we were THAT cute.

And by the way, that is one of the bad things about being a grown-up. There are entirely too few songs with gestures.

Happy weekend everyone. And stay dry!

Ally

(who is using this nice rainy weekend to 1. watch some DVDs from Netflix which I ordered to research my next book, and 2. read the new Janet Evanovich, and 3. re-caulk my bathtub. Who says authors don't lead glamorous lives?)

First let me start by saying that i loved that song until my Dad decided to wake me up with it this morning, now it's not my favorite.
Second my church is doing a spy theme vacation bible school in august, the songs sound so cute

Oh, Ally! How could you? Now I can't get that song out of my head!

Your version is a little different than mine.

God said to Noah, there's gonna be a floody floody,
God said to Noah, there's gonna be a floody floody,
Get your children
Out of the muddy muddy,
Children of the Lord.

I honestly can't remember any of the other verses. So that makes it even worse -- just to have that ONE in my head all day!

I always liked singing that song, and I don't recall any more verses to it.

I have finished the new Janet Evanovich already. LOVED IT!

I remember Bible School - went every summer. The cookies were the best part - and arts and crafts. :)

Have you seen Evan Almighty? Sort of appropriate given the rain we've been having and I really enjoyed it.
