The tryouts

Okay. So I've gone back and forth on this. A lot.

Should I post it? Should I keep my trap shut? Should I say something? Should I keep quiet?

But it's reached the point, gang, that I feel like I really have to say something about the I'D TELL YOU I LOVE YOU BUT THEN I'D HAVE TO KILL YOU movie tryout situation...IF there is going to be a tryout. And that's a HUGE if. And that's kind of the point.

See, there are a lot of things I've learned about the movie process.

1. writers don't have any say. None. Zip. Zilch. Nada. For all I know they're filming in Canada right now. Which...they aren't. But they could be because I'm that out of the loop. I signed contracts saying that Disney (now Walden Media) has film rights to the book and that was the end of my involvement. Period.

2. in the case of the LYKY movie, there are producers attached to the project, and there are writers working on a screenplay. But no actors or directors will be involved until AFTER the script is finished.

3. for a movie like this I would be very, very surprised if they have an open casting call of any kind. I know we've all heard stories about how movie producers went all over England for kids to try out for Harry Potter but--let's face it folks--this isn't Harry Potter.

4. I did have lunch with one of the film producers several weeks ago and we did talk about actors/actresses for the main roles. They're all very talented people who are currently involved in the industry. NONE OF THEM HAVE BEEN OFFERED A ROLE YET--please understand this. It was just kind of like Christmas--we were making wish lists.

5. At no point during the lunch did the producer mention having casting calls or auditions. Now, this doesn't mean it WON'T happen, and that's why I hate to say anything that might trample on anyone's dreams. But I do think that it's good to keep things as realistic and as in-perspective as possible.

6. the movie may very well never get made. Sure, all signs are good right now, but do you guys have any idea how hard it is to get a film made? How many hoops you have to clear? How many stars have to align perfectly? This whole thing could fall apart tomorrow, so don't say I didn't warn you.

I'm not saying don't follow your dreams, and I'll never say don't dream big. But when I look at Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Brittany Spears I just pray that these are not your role models and that your desire to be in the LYKY movie isn't stemming from a desire to be them.

I remember hearing a quote once about how it used to be that people were famous for being special and now people are special for being famous.

You know what I think? I think it would be great if, instead of trying to be a Gallagher Girl in the movies, we all tried a little harder to be like the Gallagher Girls in real life.

Learn a language; study hard; be fiercely loyal friends...

And you'll all be stars in my book.

Well I count myself as one step closer to being an informant...I'm sure you remember what little help I was haha. But, the study hard thing I have covered. I just love auditioning, it's like in my blood or something, so I'll do it whether there is a light at the end of the tunnel or not...and extras are way more fun anyway!!!! But tell us only as much as you're allowed and only when you can. Thanks again Ally!

wow if they had auditions that would be another book that I love that is having open auditions. The sries "The Clique" is having open auditions on the internet but unless i read the rules wrong I can't enter because I'm Canadian. Well, I'm just excited that they are filming this, and if they are filming in Canada that will be awsome although it's probably not where i live!!

very smart shaniqua the great! every girl should have that attitude. i hope the auditions are in person. who would want a video of themselves on the internet? that is so dangerous.

it's dangerous but I don't think they will fly up a girl like me who lives all the way in Alberta, Canada without knowing if I have any real talent to be in the movie!

you never know! i don't trust online auditions. you can get a better feel of what it's going to be like of you audition in person. but it would also be more comfortable for people if they audition when no one else is really around. i would love to play the part of cammie. we have so much in common. it's almost scary.

it would be great to be Cammie but I would also like the challenge of playing one of her friends to ither act really troubled, being brillant, or be tough and have a british accent!

Hey Ally! I just recently appeared in two national commercials, and I'm qualified to join SAG. If that script ever does get written and the stars align for it, I would love to play a part! My online acting portfolio can be found here: www.niquette.net

Congrats! That would be wonderful if your book was turned into a film! =)

I feel like i'm the only one who hasn't had pro acting training. Sure I've been in a couple of plays and musicals, I haven't been in a commercial or anything. Do you need to have had special training to audition? And I agree, I think it would be cool to have a part, but maybe not a lead. Like it would be cool to be Courtney or Tina or Eva. Hey Ally, maybe you could let your G girls in on a little information if you find out when and where auditions might be? Thanks! Well, bi 4 now my gallagher girl sisters! Luv you and your books Ally!!!

I don't want to be like Lindsy Lohan or any other celebrities but I think I would be a good choice for the part of Cammie, one because I am just like her, good grades, invisable to most, a pavement artist, and I have always wished to be a spy. And two, I have auditioned for disney before and they said I was great, but didn't fit the describtion for the character they were looking for.

Me to! I think i'd be a great Cammie Morgan to I am also like her, but for different reasons, I lost my father when I was young to and i am also a camelion, I don't have much self confidence, and my dream would be to become a spy and try even to start a school like a Gallagher Academy. I have never auditioned for a movie before and I get nervous. But I hope the do it online and allow everyone to try out!!!!! I can't wait. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!

I truly hope that there are open calls, not just because I want to audition (though that is a very big part of it!) but because there are a couple young yet-to-be-discovered actresses somewhere who have read this book and felt unbelievably perfect for one of the roles, and maybe one of those girls' dream will come true.

P.S.- Psssst! That feeling-unbelievably-perfect-for-a-role thing? Me=Liz. Just sayin'...

i reallt think that it would be cool if there were auditions and i only hope that they want a blonde actress and this is like a really good book to be made into a movie!!! i mean if only the truth were closer to us that would really make my day.
