The news, the whole news, and nothing but the news
Hey everyone,
I want to start by saying THANK YOU to all of you who have bought, read, and written to tell me you've enjoyed the books. It means more than you will ever know.
And now I have a lot of news to share and not a lot of time to share it cleverly, so I'm just going to put it out there if that's okay.
1. We got word yesterday that CROSS MY HEART AND HOPE TO SPY will be on the NY Times Bestseller list again next week! How happy does that make me? So insanely, giddy happy.
2. I can FINALLY tell you guys officially that yes, there will be a third Gallagher Girls book! We just finalized the deal, and I'm thrilled to be continuing the series with Hyperion, my publishing home.
However, I can't tell you any details about the book or even what the official title will be (we're calling it GG3 for now.) I don't know an exact publication date yet but it will (sadly) probably be AT LEAST a year away (and likely longer).
3. Not only have I sold GG3, but I'm also over-the-moon excited about Project K!
What is Project K? Well, it's the codename I gave for a new project I was working on a few weeks ago, but since the project has been sold I now consider it declassified, so you guys can read all about it!
Project K isn't really the title (I was just using that for blogging purposes.) In truth, it doesn't have a title yet, but I call it KAT.
Why? Because it's about a girl named Kat.
Who is a thief.
It's hopefully the first book in a new series pitched as Ocean's 11 meets Veronica Mars, about a girl from a family of high-end conmen who must choose between leaving the family business or saving her art thief father by pulling one last heist.
I'm excited about Kat. I mean...really, really excited. And I hope you guys are as well.
3. And I guess my final piece of news is that in the very near future I'll be quitting my day job in order to write full-time! Yay. It's not often a person gets to do what they wanted to do when they were 12.
And very soon I'll be one of those people.
The last thing I'll say is that I know you guys have TONS of questions about the girls. And the boys. And the history of Cammie's family. And Cammie's future.
Well, let me just say that all of those questions have answers, but I don't think you want to know them...not yet.
I mean, do you really want to know if/when Bella from the Twilight books will become a vampire? Or if Princess Mia from the Princess Diaries will end up with her high school boyfriend, Michael? Or if Stephanie Plum (from Janet Evanovich's amazingly funny series) will marry Morelli or Ranger?
Sure...we may WANT to know those things, but do we really want them TOLD to us? Outright? Ruined?
Or would you rather keep reading?
I don't think you REALLY want the answers to those questions, so that's why I'm not going to give them to you.
I will, however, say that I do plan to do several more books and that each one of those books will be important in answering all of those questions. And more.
You guys will just have to trust me when I tell you that the Gallagher Girls have only just begun to fight.

OMG i had to stay up till midnight last night to finish CROSS MY HEART AND HOPE TO SPY(it was a very long day in middle school today let me tell you) i loved it so much me and my friend have been dying to get it but we both have been so busy i finished it the day i bought it she is now reading it! I can totally relate to Cammi you have written one of my top fav's and i have read about 6 times as many books as my whole grade so i'v seen a lot and yours is a winner J.K.R. my top fav now has had comition if only a little more people knew about the books(i've told everyone i know about them) you would be even a bigger deal than HARRY i really hope that the next book comes out soon i am so excited- Kaite in Utah
yeah, I can't wait for Kat anf GG3, do u know what's happening with the movie if your aloud to talk about it, congratz on getting to quit your job and i agree with you with the telling your straight up. When I was in line for harry potter the girl in front of us went online to read the sneaked copy of the book and practiacally shouted the ending, now that does furiate me!!!
Oh that's all such wonderful news, Ally! Congrats on getting on the NYT bestseller list for another week, and congrats on getting to quit the day job to write full time! (And I have to say that I am very much looking forward to GG3 and Project K!)

Wow, Ally good news all around. I just cried alittle, since I'm writing a con artist book now that's REALLY similar to KAT and I know it's going to be much harder to sell, now. But I love my book and the concept, and I'm sure I'm going to love your's too.
That is so awesome about project k, the New York Times Best Seller's List. Good for you about getting to quit your day job!! I am so excited about the GG3.
I'm super excited that GG2 is going to be on the NY Times Best Sellers List AGAIN! Congratulations! Also, congratulations for officially sellling GG3 and the new series KAT. I am itching to read the first few pages already! It sounds like a page-turner. Concerning Evanovich's Morelli/Ranger dilemma. Hands down Ranger will prevail! I'm a Ranger fan. What can I say? My sister will disagree with me wholeheartedly on this one.
*runs in happy circles* well that was fun news!! now i'm extremely excited for the new books and the fact that you're on the best-sellers list again.....though i'm a little sad that it'll be a while before we get to see GG3...*sigh*

I'm sooo excited about GG3. I hope it comes out soon. I'm really psyched about the Kat book too. It sounds really good (especially the comparison to Veronica Mars, which I totally love.) It sounds exactly like the kind of book I'll love.
I'm throughly jealous of you for getting to be a full time author. I've wanted to do that since 5th grade.

I loved Cross My Heart And Hope to Spy. When I saw it on the shelf I instantly bought it and didn't stop reading it till I was forced to take a shower it was fantastic I am so happy there is going to be a third and now I just can't wait to read GG3. I am now rereading the seiries for the second time in one week!!!!! I'm so happy I found out that you have written other books I cn't wait to read them!!!

My friend just read the first book of GG and loved it! I'm hoping to read it soon, as soon as I can! I also heard there going to be a movie! CONGRATS ALLY!!

i was just wondering if the boys in GG2 knew about the last project or if they were just as surprised as the girls?? Because it seemed like they didnt know but then again theyre really good spys..so i didnt know if they were acting...
I am so glad that you are making a third Gallagher Girls!!!!! I love your books, they are so great. I finished both of the books the same day I got them. I absolutely fell in love with the hilarious and heart-warming "I'd tell you I love You but Then I'd Have To Kill You"; so much so that as soon as I could coerce my parent's into giving me a ride to Barnes and Noble, The second book was purchased and being read. I love "Cross my Heart and Hope to Spy." It is fantastic. Ally Carter, you're amazing! Thank you for writing such an awesome series that keeps me coming back for more! I can't wait to read the third one!

Your series is sooo awesome i saw an ad in a magazine and ran to barnes & noble- it's so good i really want to know what happens next. I bought both GG1 & 2 and could not put it down i was up all night! I don't know how you got the plotline idea but i know i want to be a gallagher girl! =D when will GG3 come outttt i'm so impatient i want to read more! just like the twilight series lol... oh well. And i agree i can totally relate to cammie (well except for the fact i'm not a spy...) and these books are totally comparable to harry potter- i wish more people knew about them. Thanks for being such a cool author!

I FINALLY got both 1st and the 2nd GGS and cant wait for the GG3. i hope this series will never end! congrats so far for the future movie coming out... i cant wait to see it!!! i always loved spys with cool electronics, codes, and overt operations. so when i saw your book i was the first person to ask my teacher if i could borrow it. your books is on my favorite book. congrats and hope you luck or the future!!!

I can't wait for the GG3, Cross My Heart and the Love You, Have to Kill were both my staff picks at the Borders I work for. So I'm excited that there will be more for Cammie and the other girls!
Also the new project sounds just as great as if not maybe better than the GG series though I'll have to actually read it so see.
