Tricks and Treats

This Friday is my last full-time day at my full-time job (I have several meetings and things scheduled for November, but for the most part I'll be on vacation next month): TREAT

Purchasing tons of Halloween candy one week before Halloween and then proceeding to eat said candy: TRICK

Ordering not one, not two, but five pairs of walking shoes online and having every last pair of them rub blisters on your feet: TRICK

Free return shipping on walking shoes ordered online: TREAT

Getting geared up for National Novel Writing month and having several scenes in mind that you just can't wait to write: TREAT

Knowing that there will also be scenes that won't be so fun to write--and you only have a month to write them: TRICK.

Having a group of amazing writer friends who are going to be going through the process alongside you: Big, big TREAT

Fearing that the aforementioned amazing writers will laugh at your terrible un-productivity: TRICK (but also a great motivational TREAT, so it goes both ways, I guess.)

OSU-TEXAS playing on ABC Saturday afternoon: TREAT

Knowing that OSU has a tendency to...well...choke against Texas: TRICK

Honestly believing that this team and these coaches know how good that they have the potential to be: TREAT

Cooler weather: TREAT

Not having a winter coat you really like: TRICK

Really good soup: TREAT

Realizing that you're soooooo addicted to your blackberry that as soon as you have to give yours back to the day-job people that you must rush out and get another one: TRICK

Being able to write full-time in the VERY near future: TREAT

Knowing that you'll be so busy writing an entire novel next month that you won't have time for really in-depth blogging: TRICK

Having your skin look the best it has ever looked in your whole, entire life (thanks to the world's best face moisturizer: Neutrogena Anti-Oxidant Age Reverse): TREAT.

Knowing there's no such thing as Neutrogena Butt-size Reverse: TRICK

Knowing that you'll probably also have a ton of leftover Halloween candy (and hopefully soon a good pair of walking shoes) to get me through: TREAT.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN, EVERYONE!!!

Getting off work an hour early: TREAT

Knowing you have at least an hour of commuting ahead no matter what time you leave: TRICK

Going home to see the kitty: TREAT

Knowing the kitty is probably STILL hiding inside the couch due to last night's earthquake: TRICK

Having nothing on the schedule tonight so I can just go home and relax (and try to calm said kitty): TREAT

Having a nice-sized bowl of candy to pass out to trick-or-treaters: TREAT

Knowing I will probably not get a single kid ringing my doorbell (just like last year): TRICK

Having an update on Ally's blog: TREAT

Have a Happy Halloween, Ally!

Happy Halloween! I'm a bit sad though... no trick-or-treaters today (they apparently all came on the weekend...).

But still. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Halloween candy: TREAT

Halloween on a college campus which means that girls do not necessarily dress "up" but actually use this day as a day to wear almost nothing at all: TRICK

Seeing a new Ally post: TREAT

Seeing my sister's comment (Hi Bethy!!): TREAT

Having a homework due in American Economic History the day after Halloween: TRICK

Happy Halloween everyone. May your night be filled with the costumed and full-clothed.

To Ally:
Last Spring, I had the pleasure of listening to your presentation for the Spring FCE Recognition Banquet in Girard. I was very impressed, even though my preferred genre is Science Fiction, I thought your stories would be interesting.

Fast forward to the beginning of the school year in Erie, and my daughter brought home your first book, Cheating at Solitaire. It seems that her 10th grade English teacher, Miss Olivia S., suggested that Dena would enjoy your writing.

She brought the book home, and I told her that I had heard you talk about your books, writing and other topics. She acted interested at least. LOL!

Well, a few days went by, and I thought...another one bites the dust....she is sooooo picky! Trying to put a positive spin on the situation(and using my best motherly psychological weapons LOL)I asked her if she was finished reading Cheating at Solitaire. She shocked me by saying, "Almost, I've read about 2/3 it!"

Before she took it back to school, I read Cheating at Solitaire, and I laughed quite a bit. It was a good read. So you have 2 new fans.

My daughter has read two of your books this fall. She says she likes Cheating at Solitaire best, but she enjoyed reading I'd tell you I love you, but then I'd have to kill you of The Gallagher Girl books.

Keep up the good work. Have lots of fun working as a full-time author! WooHoo!

Just heard Thursday, 11/1/07, at our Fall SEK FCE area meeting that you would be leaving your economist position. I guess you CAN keep a secret in SEK. LOL

Congratulations!
