Questions!
Hi guys,
Lately it seems like I've been hearing the same questions...A LOT. So I thought I'd answer some of them. Two birds. One stone. All that fun stuff.
1. Is the Gallagher Academy real?
--only in your minds or in top secret government circles to which I am totally not privy.
2. Who is the girl on the covers?
--no idea. Actually, all I know is that there are actually two DIFFERENT girls since the model the publishing company hired for book one was unavailable for book 2.
3. What is your email address?
--it's on the website. And no I'm not going to tell you where exactly since you have to go through hoops to find it for a reason.
4. What is the reason?
--the vast majority of questions I was receiving for a while were about...
a. the movie.
b. future books.
c. school projects
and all of the information available on those three topics is currently ON the website. So there's no need to write and ask when the movie tryouts will be...
BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW AND IT SAYS SO ON THE WEBSITE.
(And yes, I'm talking to you--the girl who emailed me nine times last Sunday with some derivation of that question.)
I love. I mean L-O-V-E getting emails from readers, but I'm not a Hollywood talent scout or homework service, so I don't reply to emails about those subjects...
BECAUSE EVERYTHING I HAVE TO SAY ON THOSE SUBJECTS IS ON THE WEBSITE.
Are you guys noticing a trend?
5. I know it says on your website that you don't know anything about the movies, but I was wondering if you know anything about the movie.
--sigh.
6. Will Zach be in GG3?
--See answer 4b above.
7. I'm a writer. Will you read my book and tell me if it's any good.
--No. I'm sorry, I really can't for many reasons. (This, by the way, is also answered on the website.)
8. I'm a writer. What tips do you have?
--Write a lot and read a lot and don't worry about getting published. At all. When you're ready it will happen. (Also, check out the info "for writers" that is...
(say it with me, everybody!)
on the website.
9. What other writers can you recommend while I'm waiting for GG3?
--Oh, geeze. There are SO many!
I've already mentioned Jennifer Lynn Barnes's new series, THE SQUAD, that I think GG fans will love.
Also, I just finished SWEETHEARTS by Sara Zarr and SOMETHING ROTTEN by Alan Gratz that were both excellent.
I absolutely adore anything by E. Lockhart and Sarah Mlynowski. I just started my first Lauren Myracle book. And look for HOW TO BE BAD to be released soon which was by E., Sarah, AND Lauren! How fun!
One of my long-time favorites is AMAZING GRACE by Megan Shull.
AIRMAN by Eoien Colfer was amazing.
Do I really need to tell anyone about the TWILIGHT series or does everyone already know?
I periodically grab GIRLS POKER NIGHT by Jill A. Davis off the shelf and ready thirty pages before I even make it to the couch.
John Green is always a hoot.
I haven't gotten a chance to read WAKE by Lisa McMann, but I've met Lisa and I'm genuinely looking forward to her book.
You can never go wrong with TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD.
THE OUTSIDERS was the book that first made me want to become a writer.
Janet Evanovich is the queen of laugh-out-loud funny (although she probably isn't appropriate for younger teens.)
Tara Altebrando has a couple of books that look amazing and I can't wait to dig into them when I get a chance.
Next up in my personal to-be-read file is a book called THE SPELLMAN FILES. My film agent, Sarah Self (who, by the way, I think was mentioned in Diablo Cody's Oscar speech!!!), was raving about when I met with her last summer.
10. Can my friends and I make a fansite devoted to your book?
--Are you sure? I mean, there are only 24 hours in a day and life is short (especially the part of life where you look good in shorts), so do you REALLY want to spend your time doing this?
Well, if the answer is yes, I can't see why the answer would be no. Just know that I wouldn't be able to have an official part of the process or anything. But I would be honored, and I would wish you nothing but the best.

thanks for the answers. :)
...but there's still the unanswered question of: "What about the GG3 title?"
i know that probably goes under the category of future books. but the title can't hurt? can it?
Hey Ally!! I'm reading the Gemma Doyle series by Libba Bray and It is GREAT! I heard of it because you mentioned it when you blogged about the Super Bowl. There are sooo many books I want to read right now and basically all the books you just mentioned sound FANTASTIC!! I can't wait 'till GG3 is out and this is getting long so, BYE AllY!!!!
im the first to comment! YAY!! and just so you know, i found your email on the website. its pretty hard to find, but never the less, i found it!!
-gallaghergirl95
You know something funny? Yesterday, after I posted asking about the e-mail address...I found it. (And, no, I am not telling where I found it. If Ally wanted people to know, she would have just said so.)
Thanks for the book suggestions. :)
YAY i'm the first one to comment!!!!! HA! Ayways i agree with everything you say Ally and i can't wait till GG3 and some deleted scenes if i may say that! LUV ya Ally!!! Bye and keep on blogging and writing!!!
lol i think everyone knows what twilight is! i love that book to! for the people reading this if u havent read that book u have to!
OMGSH! thanks so much for answering those questions. it was a teensy bit annoying with people all asking the same q's on the blogs.
and i just had to read The Outsiders for a book report. i've been working on the project on and off for a few days now.
and thanks sooooo much for answering that q about fansites. you so deserve some for all your hard work.
well, ba-bye!!
callie
p.s. i'm gonna put those jennifer lynn barnes books on my to-get list. they sound interesting.
p.p.s. oh, and you soo don't need to elaborate on the twilight books either!!
(man, why do i always write so much!!)
ohh myy goshh.. im so phyced about GG3. My friend and I are always talking about it, and are hoping that Zach will be in the new book..
he's romantics in this mysterious way..
he's the guy all the girls want.
I get it. :) For *some* reason, this reminds me of algebra class when my teacher gets asked the same question 5 times in a row after already explaining it.
Twilight is awesome!! I just finished Eclipse today. :) GREAT series, although I doubt many 18-year-olds have Bella's vocabulary. I know what the words mean but no one really talks like that (really...have you ever heard someone say "infinitesimally" in everyday speech?)
I ALWAYS love news about GG3. So, if you really want to share some information, don't be hesitant...
hey guess what?!?! i finally got Twilight and i'm freakin lovingg itt!!! im just about halfway done. and i seriously think that Edward is the dreamiest. swoon...yes, actual swoonage. :) love that line btw. thanks ally for your brilliance!!!
I love the Twilight series. :)
Lol everybody totally knows what Twilight is, I love that book. I have just about a million books piled up on my bookshelf right now that haven't been read yet (so that means I'm going back and reading old books just because I don't want to start on a pile that big lol) but I think I'm going to look for the Squad books anyway, they look hilarious. Thanks for the answered questions!
I LOVE GG!!!! can't wait till #3!!!
Hey Ally, another great book that I just finished reading was Tamar by Mal Peet and it was great. It is about a girl and her namesake and the book tells both of their stories with some other stories mixed in. It is great, you should read it.
wow thank you HAHA yea i saw on the website so i did not ask you any questions. im soo smart :]
BigBang~

hayley
So, just to be clear, they really are making a movie? Or are you still hoping they will? Because I'm not sure, but I think there's a differene between OPTIONED and BOUGHT and already a real MOVIE... so I was just wondering where you were at!
Hey ally,
i just wanted to say i wont bother asking you to read my stories or anything because one, i cant write fo my life and 2 , i dont have any books ive written. but whe i read your books i feel like i can be a writer because they are so good they inspire me and make me think i can be a writer! thank you for the books and cant wait for gg3 to come out

Hi!
Ally, I'm guessing that you read these, because... well, I'm not exactly sure.
Anyway, SWEETHEARTS was amazing. I lovelovelove it. And the only reason I even read it was because you said you were reading it. So thank you.
Also, I looked for THE SQUAD, but they didn't have it. )=
Last, I also went looking for your CHEATING AT SOLITARE book, but it was out of print. Why?? )= (well, nevermind about the why part, It probably wasn't your choice...)
Okay, enough for today. You are an amazing writer (and not just your books, either. your for authors thing, and the stories behind the stories are really really good too!). Please keep doing whatev you're doing!
<3 you,
Cassie (:

Okay one more question, do you have any deleted scenes left? I LOVE those.
Caitie
grumpy grumpy...
jk lol
I totally understand wat u r saying even tho it would be nice to kno. must be annoying
I wonder if the title is going to have anythingt o do with shooting something
Ally EVERYONE knows about Twilight I love those books!!!!! I would also like to say Maximum Ride Is THE BEST SERIES EVER! (sorry Ally, i like your books too) Some other series I like are Alex Rider(spies), The Young Bond books(spies), All American Girl(romance), and Eragon and about 50 million books.
Ha ha! I think that everybody should know what Twilight is! Can't wait until GG3!
<3 Renee
more books for the booklist:
alex rider series by Anthony Horowitz(someone already suggested them, but i have to add that it's all about the missions, with about .1% romance, so if you're in to superspy stuff, go for it, but if your into love-life stuff, you'll get pretty bored)
the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series (first title is The Lightning Thief) by Rick Riordan (boy finds out that his father was actually one of the greek gods, and he has to go to camp half-blood, where his best friend turns out to be a satyr, he meets a daughter of athena named annabeth, and they go on quest to recover Zues' lightning bolt)
the Specialists, by Shannon Greenland (spy/romance-ish)
Golden by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (ally posted it on her blog FOREVER ago, so you can look it up in 'previous posts')
I Will Plant You a Lilac Tree by Laura Hillman (Holocaust Memoir - i had to read it for my english class... sooo sad, but so good, and much easier to read than Anne Frank. Not much gruesome imagery, so no worries there, but it's pretty intense. still, it's an amazing story, and it's a true account)
The Truth About Forever (i forget who it's by, sorry) is a really good traditional romance story...
so yeah...
Hi Ally!!
i just wanted to ask if you read the youg bond books by charlie higson? they are rly rly good.... and i only moved to US recently. b4 i used 2 live in UK and the books are originally from there but i think the first three editions are now available in the US. If you have free tym be sure to check them out!!
hey ally,
I am a member of goodreads.com, i i'd think you'd LOVe it. its a web site that you can invite friends and you can show the books you have read and your ratings on them, annd you can join groups on the books and disscuse the books. also the authers can join and i think it would be cool if you join. ITS COOL
Hey Ally!!
I totally agree with you TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD was one of the best books i ever read. I also really like the outsiders too. I recently ordered THE SQUAD but it hasnt come in yet.)= I am so excited for GG3!!! my friends just finally took my advice and read your books too and they talked about them constally!!! Keep writing ally!!!

HEY!!! Is Zack in the third one because i cant find anything about that. PLEASE tell me if he is in the book or not cause i cant find it anywhere. I LOVE YOU BOOKS!!! really hope the GG3 comes out soon. love ya, ALLY <} :p
here are some really good books:
The City Of Ember series by Jeanne DuPrau ( the first book is about this city underground thats been around for years but the lights are going out down there and the food is getting low so these two kids are trying to find a way out of the city. )
My Secret Hollywood Life. ( very funny and romantic. i cant remember the authors name though. )
Turn Homward Hannahlee ( this is a good one! she lives during the civil war and she, her brother and a friend, are captured by soldires and they have to escape. )
Our Only May Amelia ( its about this girl living on the Nasel settlement in Washington in 1899 and she is the only girl EVER born on the settlement. she also has 7 thats SEVEN brothers. i would scream!! )
Once Upon A Marigold. ( i think the authors name is Jean Ferris? but anywase, this is a really funny/romantic/all around great book! i cant find it at any of the bookstores near wear i live but, pretty much every library has a copy or two so try finding a copy at your local library. )
Nancy Drew. ( girl detective, solves cases with her two best friends George ( a girl! ) and Bess. her boyfriend Ned Nickerson helps in some of the books to. )
and thats about it. im sure there are many more cuz i read CONSTANTLY but anywase, thats all i can think of right now.
-gallaghergirl95

Jinx is a good book too. I'm still in the middle of it though. Goodluck on the edits on gg3! Have you been to the twighlight website??? She post the outtakes on the book page. Are those like your deleted scenes? ok Good luck Again!
Same here with the books Ally! My list goes on and on. Two of my favorites were SHUG by JENNY HAN. And FLIPPED by WENDELIN VAN DRAANEN.
Dear Ally,
I really enjoy your books and have recommedned your book to all my friends. I got one to read them both and now she's a fan too. THanks for writing.
ELizabeth
I totally agree with Allie-Wa. And another really, really, really good book is the Sea of Trolls. I know that it isn't exactly GG-ish, but it is very HP-ish. (And for those of you who haven't read the classics, HP stands for Harry Potter:)
And another good series is Diary of A Girl: Caitlyn. But it does have some stuff in it...if you know what i mean- PG 13.
And as for you're email, Ally, it is kinda obvious. And another thing....how can people email you asking for you're email address?
And lastly...GG3. Of course, I want the latest scoop, but....
I am dying to hear about this new series that you are writing! A *hint* never hurts, not even when it comes to publicity of the book.
So...I guess this is my disertation of Ally's Diary. Don't feel too shy, Ally!
We ♥ you!!!!
~Ally-Wa II
:)
