Second Drafts
Hey gang,
Seems like a lot of you want to know about second drafts--how long they take, how many drafts follow, and what they look like.
Well, I can firmly say...it depends.
Every writer is different. Heck, every BOOK is different. For me second drafts are usually the time when I stop seeing all the fun, cool stuff and start focusing on the problems.
Usually some of the problems are self-evident. A lot of the times the problems are also things that were in my head but somehow didn't make it onto the page, and it takes someone else reading the pages and saying "why is character X always saying things like Y?"
And then I have to fix it.
Draft three, just so you know, is usually when the crying starts.
I have no idea how long the second draft will take. Nor do I know how many drafts will come after.
But I can tell you that I'm going to do everything in my power to make this the best book yet. And that is just about the only thing of which I'm really, truly sure.

it'll be pretty dang hard to top book two, but i really do believe you can do it!! and given the whole "grinning like an idiot the entire time i read book two" thing that seems to happen to me, i'm pretty sure i'll look even more idiotic when i start book three....haha
keep going!! i hope this draft goes as smoothly as the first!!

i can only imagine how stressful writing a book can be. but you do it cuz you love it all in the end right? at least its worth seeing the finished product. your dedication is greatly appreciated!

Oh my gosh! I am so excited for the third book and every time you talk about it I'm just like "It needs to come out now!" Lol! Good luck with the rest of the 2nd draft!

I have a question ally- i'm writing a book, (well, trying anyway) and i want to go through the whole process of writing a book. When you sat second draft, does that mean that you wirte it all over w/out looking at the first draft. or do you look at the first draft and write a second draft while looking at the first draft, or do you just make corrections to the first draft?
plz respond. i would really like to know. i really really love your books, ally. thnx!

wow writing a book is (for lack of a better word) hard! but I'm sure your going to give us a fabulous book also take your time! its totally worth it!

Oh my goodness. I cannot wait until book three comes out. I have loved the other ones.
Seriously, I keep telling basically everyone that I know who wants/needs book suggestions, or those who would read them, to read the Gallagher Girl series.
Oh, btw, in your spare time, have you thought of any cool/exciting way to reveal the title?

When you start draft 3, be sure to cary a box of tissues with you! ;)
I love your books and i belive that you will do fine in writing the 3rd. It will be just as good if not better knowing you.

trying to top the second book will be hard but i know that you can do it and if you really really over-look your work then it won't turn out as well as you plan so keep that in mind!

YAY SECOND DRAFT!! i cannot WAIT for GG3!! I think it will be pretty hard to top GG2 but im sure you can do it! and i can really relate to what Briana said about ahem..." Grinning like an idiot the entire time i read book two. " LOL! i did the SAME THING. also, i would shriek and giggle and try to stifle it so the people around me wouldnt think i was weird, and only resulted in, well, coughing. lol! ahhh good times, good times. but anywase book 2 was AWSOME and i bet GG3 will be even AWSOMER!! ( wait, thats not a word. lol. )

I think i know what you mean because i just began writhing a story and before i could realize it was 20 pages long and my friend told me to keep writing so i amm but somethimes i get so mad because i dont know what to write abot or i cahnge things but... hey the important thing is that your an amazing writer and you will get through

There was a time in my life when I thought that the book was coming out sooner than that. Well too bad for me! It is most definetly *not* coming out anytime soon.
But no worries, my dear, your book is appreciated so much no matter when it comes out!

Hello! I just finished the second book and thought that it was totally spiffy (a phrase that you have to be me to understand). I do want the third one to come out nice and speedy- like a turtle (same as above)!! Ususally I don't read books like this (strictly for girls or something) so it was new for me... (even though all of my guy friends thought that I was insane XD). I'm just curious, when is Cam ever going to find someone to STICK with? :(
