Some things about Kat
Okay, since you guys are soooo excited about GG3 (and your excitement is contagious), I thought I'd share some cryptic facts about the new series as well.
1. it still doesn't have a title. I call it "Kat" (after the main character) or "Heist" (after what happens) when I talk about it. But I don't know what it'll say on the actual cover.
2. it will probably have more boys than any book I've written yet since I kind of grew up in a very male-dominated field, and that's one part of my life that I think will creep into Kat's life--she's used to being the only girl in the room.
3. bad people are fun to write
4. I think Kat's dad might give Mr. Solomon a run for his money in the "yummy" department.
5. To really write Kat well I should probably spend six weeks in Europe. Darn it.
6. Of all the books I've written, Kat is the one that I'd most like to adapt into a screenplay.
7. I have no idea if there will be future Kat books. There very well COULD be--there most likely WILL be--but I don't have any under contract because...well...I don't want to bite off more than I can chew.
8. Kat would fit right in at the Gallagher Academy.
9. And I really, really can't wait to write this book!

This year I will write one Gallagher Girls book (GG3) and the NEW book, Kat.
Kat will not be a character in the Gallagher Girls books. She will not be replacing Cammie.
They are two DIFFERENT series.

You say Kat would fit in pefectly at the acadamy. So why dont you put her in, in either GG4 or Kat2?
oh i get it now kat is in another book. it is confusing because you put GG3 in the first paragraph. its really another book!!!

Wow that scared me for a second. Didn't understand the whole "new series" so I thought Kat was new and Cammie was not gonna narate anymore. What a heart stopper!

That is a really clever idea. I went to one of your book signings and then you gave us adivce for writing your own screenplay, and i just want to say thank you. When GG3 come out I may be too excited to actually read it!!

Sounds cool - I'll definitely read it when it comes out (unless it's considered an adult book in which case I didn't say that... but I'll probably read it anyway.
Maybe, if you finish up the GG series, and you finish up Kat, you could make a subseries about Kat going to teach at Gallagher (unless of course you kill Kat off, which would probably be evil but that's okay, it's a book, not real people)...
I can't wait! It sounds so cool!
But in the meantime, GG3 can keep me company... (cough,cough).

This is SOOO awesome!!! As soon as it's released I'm going to get it. And stay up all night reading it. Because it'll be too awesome to put down. =D

So let me get this straight- "kat" -don't know why i put air qoutes, will be the main character in gg3. And she will fit right in. so were does cammie come in? And why if kat will fit right in, why not stay in gg? she could be, like the next generation or something of totally rule breaking spy in training. sorry , but i am totally lost! HELP!

Okay, gang, listen up.
Kat is a new character in a NEW SERIES. This is a series that is NOT the Gallagher Girls series.
Which means I will now be writing a total of TWO series...
Gallagher Girls
and
Kat
Cammie is the main character of the GG series.
Kat is the main character of the Kat series.
Are you with me? Because I sort of don't know how else to describe it.
Kat series + GG series = 2 different series. They are independent of each other.

ps...I never said there would be just one more GG book. I said that I was writing one GG book this year. As it says elsewhere on the site, there will probably be 5-6 GG books total.

I am really excited for the new series and GG3. I reread the books,like,all the time! I love thebooks and I SO hope that the movie happens. I want to be in it and have some acting skills.... Maybe you will be seeing me on the big scren one day! lol. Lets hope so!

Hey, maybe Kat and Cammie should meet up in the last book of one of the series. Then they can both go on the same mission looking for Cammie's dad or something. Or stopping Kat's family from crime...

As you can tell from the copious comments, your fans would love for you to go to Europe. That's evidently not an option for you at this point, but we hope that you get to spend some time in Europe if the setting is going to impact Kat. I love Europe and I hope that the Kat series includes a variety of languages just like the GG series does.
