Twelve
It's official. LYKY is looking at its 12th week on the TIMES list. This is getting sort of ridiculous.
But in order to celebrate, I give you...
TWELVE THINGS ABOUT MY NEW HOUSE!
1. I love my street. And my neighbors. Everyone is SO nice (which is SO different from what I'm used to), and people stand in their yards after work and talk to each other, and all their kids play basketball in my neighbor's driveway. It's like Wisteria Lane. Without the eating disorders.
2. I bought a 19 inch flatscreen TV and had it hung on the wall in front of my treadmill. It's the most awesome thing I've ever owned.
3. There are three bathrooms. And one of me. And yet, somehow, I use ALL the bathrooms. Which means I'm going to have to clean ALL the bathrooms. This is not good.
4. When the security system guy showed up to install my new system he said, "Hello there, it looks like you're getting..." pauses to look at clipboard "...the works." Which is what you'd expect from someone who spends all her time trying to think like spies and thieves.
5. My backyard appears to be much larger than my neighbors' yards. I wonder if they all secretly hate me for it and that's what they're all talking about in the street after work?
6. I now have hardwood floors. I have no idea how to clean hardwood floors. This is also a source of some concern.
7. I don't have a doorbell. Which is better than my parent's house, I guess, where there is a doorbell, but it doesn't work, so people come, ring the doorbell, and leave and we don't have a clue they've been there.
8. The cabinets are evil (but you guys already knew that.)
9. I have three closets in my bedroom. THREE. One is pretty big, and two are pretty small, but still three closets is two more closets than I had in my entire apartment in grad school.
10. there's a gas fireplace, and I know it works, but I haven't used it because, as I've documented here before, gas freaks me out.
11. I "live" downstairs and "work" upstairs. It's pretty great. Where I write there is no TV or internet or anything. Which is why I'm not up there nearly enough, I'm guessing.
12. I really, really like this house. It's not too big or too small; it's got all the cool "old house" stuff, but it's been updated enough that it works like a modern house should; and, most importantly, I love that it's close to family and friends, and that I wouldn't have it at all if it wasn't for all of you!
So, thanks guys! Thanks so much!
Back to the second draft!

Cool...but you still have to give ur readers some info on GG3!--Thats for week 13!
wow...
and about cleaning hardwood floors: hard-core mop and water. One of those swiffer cleaner (whatever they're called) things also works. Brooms for crumbs and all the gross stuff that falls on the floor, mops for spillage and just general cleaning, I guess. On the plus side, hardwood floors = no stains...
congrats on week 12!
but week 13... that's an unlucky number (if you're superstitious that way)... maybe next week you should do 13 LUCKY things about...something. idk.
But still - you write awesome novels, and I can't wait for GG3, and i'm coming up with a billion different theories right now (seriously, it's kind of scaring my friends), and OMG i am SOOOO excited!
*artemis*
Your house and neighborhood sounds swell!! Im glad you like it and all, so maybe this new environment will help you finish the second draft!!!
Wow, second commenter!? Pretty cool. Your house sounds like my dream house, even if there are evil cabinets... anyways, keep working on your second draft. Me and my friends are trying to stay calm on the sitiuation because we're so impatient. Bye!!
Your house sounds really great! Big congrats on week 12 too!
hey Ally,
Your house sounds really awsome! What does it look like on the outside?
-Kat
oooh, ally... your house seems really nice...
i thought your cabinets were getting de-evled or whatever that word would be.
Harwood Floors-Don't use water, leaves water-spots. We use Bruce(brand name)-dura-luster no-wax Floor Cleaner
Good luck on cabinet exorcism!
Yay on WEEK 12!!!!
Wow your house sounds big and beautiful. Secoud draft already ,I'm really glad you are on it because I can't wait until GG3.
The swiffer wet jet is a mop and it works great. I can get the entire house mopped (lots and lots of tiles) in about 2 hours, whereas before it would have taken all day because the water would take forever to dry. The wet jet cleans well and dries fast. I have tile and use the multi purpose cleaning solution, but there is also a wood-floor cleaning solution, so I imagine that would work really well.
Sounds like an awesome house, in an awesome neighborhood. Kinda like mine!
WOW...THREE CLOSETS?! OMG..I WOULD SO LOVE TO HAVE THREE CLOSETS... YOUR SO LUCKY! THREE CLOSETS... I MEAN, SERIOUSLY, THREE CLOSETS PPL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I lived in an apartment a few years ago where the wood floors were sooooooooo maltreated before me. I gave it the love I could, but it was never restored to its original beauty. To clean and treat the hardwood floor:
mom's way: get on your hands and knees with a bucket of soapy water with mild detergent
my way: swiffer it, and only hands-and-knee it for company and if your floors just look thirsty
Murphy's is your floor's new best friend: http://www.colgate.com/app/MurphyOilSoap/US/EN/HomePage.cwsp
happy house cleaning :-D
lllllooooolllllll...... OK just wondering what would happen if you put food and water into the upstairs part of the house then had someone lock you in for a week and a half. Would the book get done then?!!?
Congrats on Week 12. This is getting to be a funky soap opera or something. (Yes I know that's a crazy opinion....)
never use water on hardwood floors ! it'll mess them up there this thing called orangeglo that 'll work
~alizah
glad i could help. and it is so cool that you love your house. at the house my family and i just moved into (brand new cause we built it) we find problems with it.
but i still like even tho i don't call it really home...yet.
also, we have hardwood at both my mom's and dad's. i think you could vacuum it even tho a dry mop (maybe like a dry swiffer?) is preferred.
oh, and i am totally not surprised that LYKY is on it's 12th week. it's a great book!!!
callie
btw, about that neighbor thing. i some times think that the neighbors snitch about my family too. i guess i'm a little i don't know...shoulder looking in that aspect.
callie
Why do you hate the cabinets? Give em' a break!
congrats on week 12! concentrate on draft two!! i cant wait for gg3 to come out!! if it gets to week 13 u should tell us something about gg3!! please think about it!
thts awesome!! if it gets to week 13 u should tell us about tht new character! is it a boy or girl? at least tell us tht!!
As far as hardwood floors, I just swept and damp-mopped mine.
I love neighborhoods like yours. The place we're living now is like that.
Love hearing about your new house adventures.
your house sounds like the homey little type of house that i like. on an unrelated tpoic, i have a suggestion for a great auther, Scott Westerfeld. his books are amazing!!!
so glad that you are in love with your house!!!
hey, i was wondering...did you do any april fool's pranks on anyone?
Swiffer!
thats nice about the house you seem to really like it!!!
But you really do need to tell us any info you can on GG3. Oh and I'm reading that book by E. Lockhart and it is sooooo good!!! I would be doen by now but I hardl ever havet time to read because of school and homework which brings us back to school
Hardwoods....SWIFFER!!!!!!!!!!
And, how bout some pitures please?
Ha! Ha! U R SO funny!!!!^_^
Congrats on week twelve!!
-Your house and neighborhood sound AMAZING!
-Why don't your parents put up a sign saying "Doorbell broken, please knock"?.
-That's so cool that you have THREE closets. I envy you.
-Hope you get week 13!
Sounds pretty sweet, Ally. Second draft of what? GG3? Sitting here & lovign you

ttyl
Wow! You should have took pictures of all the things you mentioned. It all sound so cool. Good luck wih GG3!
Wow Ally! You sound so happy there (apart from all of the concerns that you voiced). This post was really funny! I love how you always make me laugh no matter how hard my day has been or how tired I am or how badly I wish it was Friday when it's usually only Monday. But today is Thursday. In four hours it is Friday. YAY! There is hope for those darn cabinets though, right? Also, if you're superstitous, don't worry about Week 13. 13 is my lucky number added up (incase you're wondering, 265, don't ask). Also, I don't blame you for being downstairs most of the time. Writting is tough. But you are clearly really good at it. THANKS ALLY!!!

ok my mom owns a commercial cleaning buisness so i know some stuff about cleaning. ( not alot but some. ) I've watched my mom clean hardwood floors for years and in our last house the entire den and my parents bedroom and my nana's bedroom was hardwood. thats ALOT of hardwood! anywase, the Swiffer Wet Jet is awsome for hardwood and they have a new one wear u can clean with it and it leaves behind a Febreeze scent! also Murphy Oil and a mop or one of those squeegies. ( i dont know if i spelled it right but u get the picture. ) also i would say use a broom and it probbly does better than what im about to suggest but you can buy a vacuum that does carpets and hardwoods ( i know, we own one. ) most vacuum company's make atleast one vacuum that does both. so instead of sweeping, i personally would much rather use the vacuum and just get the dirt sucked up quick! oh and i love the 3 closets thing! SERIOUSLY! 3 CLOSETS!
-gallaghergirl95
hey ally,
about the hardwood floors:
like someone said already, DON'T use water. you can use something called a dry mop. it works like a spy highly focused on her mission.
(with no cute boys to distract her)
Guys?
Ally's a smart girl. She's keeping us in suspense, and she'd sooner die than give us a release date for GG3.
. . . which stinks because I fell hard for Zach. :)
