A growing trend
Hey gang,
I've noticed a growing trend in the last few months where--at least a few times a week--someone will write me with a "great idea" for a future Gallagher Girls book.
Of course, I'm very touched that you guys are so engrossed in the characters and the stories that you're wondering what might happen next.
But, as much as I'd love to accommodate every single request, I'm afraid books aren't written by committee.
I actually already know where the books are going, and I'm going to have to ask y'all to believe me on that one. I'm not saying I know every little detail, but the big picture has been mapped out for quite a while now.
So for legal and creative reasons, (the legal reasons are really, really big, by the way) any emails I receive that say something like "here's what needs to happen in GG3" have to be deleted immediately. I'm sorry.

hey i totally get that u don't want us to leave those comments and emails. but i was wondering when you're going to let us know wat the name and details of book 3? but no rush or anything i'm just dieing to know like everyone else i'm sure is.
i've never left an email or comment saying what should happen, but my friend and i always make up really random things that could happen in the 3rd book, or could have happened i the 1st or 2nd. like yesterday we made up this one scene that could have happened in CMH and we were laughing about it the rest of the day

i really just cant wait for GG3 it will b 2 die for i bet i really cant wait 2 read it and i really know exactly what u mean about those e-mails
I know!
almost 3 years ago I was writing this story as a sort of joke (but never finished because 6th grade ended...)... i gave the first couple chapters to my friend just to ask if they made sense, because part of it was a prologue that i wasn't sure fit, and then she emailed me back saying that i couldn't have this paragraph because then it meant that one character couldn't get together with the other... and i got really annoyed because they weren't SUPPOSED to do that...
sorry, random rant over...
but anyway, i get what you mean - like you have one idea of what's supposed to happen, and then someone tells you that you should make something completely different happen, and you want to say "Wait! that's my story!"
*J*
P.S.: i just find it kind of ironic that you used the word y'all, when you're from the midwest, and a 'southerner' like myself never says it... it's funny how some people think that everyone south of DC must use the word y'all every second sentence, when most of the people i know don't... sorry, another random rant... but i kept it short this time ;-)
I totally agree! I wouldn't want that to happen to me if I was writing a story. I don't do that (suggest things) because I want to know what the authors put, or want, in the book, not what I want. I'm sure everyone else will understand too, Ally.=D
I can see how that can get annoying, so I don't blame you.

i totally see what you mean about the e-mails your getting about things that could have happened in your books. But I know that it is already done and it is probably the best it can be. I can't wait to read it!!!
Thanx for the warning, Ally Carter. But can you give us a hint as to what will be happening in the next book? Or better yet, can you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let us know the title. I won't even tell you how many pleases are involved in getting you to publish the book early.
yeah, it's a pain when people tell you what should happen in your book and that's not what you want to do. Every once in a while a friend has a good suggestion, but most of the time it's just plain annoying. If I ever do send an email to you I'll make sure not to have any suggestions for what should happen. Although I do and will have my own opinions as to what should happen. ;-)
Just wondering... what happened with the word count for Kat? Do you have GG3 back for more work and aren't spending time on Kat? (asking because I like comparing my progress to yours. Although you're going much faster than I am ^_^)

Thats totally understandable... I hate it when people tell me what to do with my storys...
Oohh ally that's so J.K. Rowling of you! With the whole "I know what's happening and no one else does". Very very very very J.K. Rowling!
*Marina*
I totally get it Ally! Even if I haven't sent you any e-mails like the ones you are talking about I won't send you any in the future.
