I'm moving to Ireland!

Okay. Maybe not really. But I'm SERIOUSLY thinking about it because I've been at the Fangs, Fur, and Fey conference this weekend hanging out with fellow Nelson Literacy Agency author, Sarah Rees Brennan.

Who is awesome.

And Irish.

And who informed me that writers/poets/musicians in Ireland DON'T PAY INCOME TAX!

I'm almost dizzy thinking about it.

I think it'd be cool to visit Ireland. You know, to see where some of my roots are. I believe my grandma said that a few generations before her, somebody from some side of the family immigrated here from Ireland.

So yeah, that's a short family history.

Did you know that in Australia, after you live there for a year, they pay for medical and education expenses? At least, I think.

What?!? Well, I think that visiting Ireland would be a blast, but moving there would be tough. If it was Australia, however, I would definitely be tempted. ;)

Don't move to Ireland! If you do then you'll never come to Kansas City(c'mon, please?)! There are things more important than not having to pay income taxes, like, not having your books set in Ireland because you forgot what the good ol' USA looks like. Besides, in America we have American ice cream! Yum yum!

Hi Ally!
Don't you scare us like that! We all love you and your books and we would be very, very sad if you moved to another country. Ireland is very cool though. My friend spent 2 years there and she has all these really cool pictures and stuff. Just don't move!!

No income tax, seriously? Sweet!

I just finished reading "I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You" like five minutes ago (spent pretty much all morning doing that, non-stop) and it was AMAZING! The ending was a little bittersweet though. Going to have to go get the sequel :)

Hey Ally! I was wondering if you think that The Secret Life of Bees would be appropriate for a 13 year old? I want to read it before the movie comes out in October.

Ally,

It was very awesome to meet you this weekend. You're an inspiration to have around---just knowing you're in my neck of the woods. So, no to Ireland. I'm now campaigning to keep the talent in middle-America ;).

Haha that's funny. That you would even think about moving because you wouldn't ahve to pay income tax. Then all your work in the kitchen would go to someone else though...wouldn't want that. Maybe you do, I dont know. =]]

In my opinion, if you were to move any where besides the U.S. you should move to France. I totally would. :) LEC (again)
