I maybe be too loopy to blog

Hi gang. It's one a.m. and I'm 180 pages into the GG3 copyedits--you know, the time when I sit in a room the size of a closet with a manuscript, a colored pencil and pencil sharpener and the big orange eraser that I've had since my days at OSU.

Oh, and there's usually Diet Coke.

LOTS of Diet Coke.

And little mini Kit Kat bars.

And some banana bread.

And microwave popcorn.

SO. MUCH. POPCORN.

hey, maybe that's why I'm feeling a little loopy?

Anyway, I just finished watching a (mostly) fast forwarded version of tonight's Olympics coverage and I'm seriously trying to decide what Olympic event I should try for in 2012.

I mean, I know that a 33 year-old woman took home a medal on the vault (YAY HER!) but seriously, she's probably been doing gymnastics for years and I don't think I could really learn it at this point in my life.

And I've pretty much ruled out track because...well...it appears to involve an awful lot of running.

And obviously beach volleyball is a non-starter because of the offensive bikinis (that I would rather have root canal than wear). Plus, I'm not big on sand. And I don't live near any beaches.

I've considered speed walking since walking is a skill that I currently posses.

Also, competitive table tennis holds a great deal of appeal since I think it would be incredibly handy to participate in a sport for which you can train in your garage.

I saw a clip of the women's air pistol competition and frankly that looked like something that I could totally do and not have it take away from my banana bread/Kit Kat obsession, so that's a huge plus.

Oh, and let's not forget archery. I don't know anything about archery, but I know a lot of men who hunt deer so I'm thinking I could pick it up.

So what do you guys think? Because to be honest I should probably decide pretty soon if I'm going to make the London games.

I'm thinking table tennis would be the easiest sport to train for in just 4 years. I think all the other sports would take more than 4 years of training to make the teams. Plus I think you would still be able to eat kit-kats while training.

Go for what you want Ally! But I think you should stay with writing books. THAT is where YOUR talent is!!

Yeah Ally! Go for it! i would absolutely heart it to see you in the olympics! But maybe you should lose the obsession to kit-kats, and gain an obsession to carrots...Anyway, i think garfield should make an apperence in one of the gallagher girl books. you could just say that one of the characters loves garfield, or that she was reading garfield in the paper, or, if you want to, Garfield could make a bigger appearence! just so you know, i want you to blog EVERY DAY, because I check the site twice a day for updates. And you should also get a boutique on girlsense.com, because it's a lot of fun. See ya!

Are you looking for the easiest or the most fun (in my opinion- I hold nothing against speed walkers)?

I would honestly go out for archery because it seems like the most fun. Seriously- speed walking? Unless I was trying to get to a sale, or to class on time, what would I need that for?

Table tennis seems like the easiest to train for, though.

oh definitely archery. one: you have access to people who know what they're doing. two: it's just dang fun!! ^_^ three: you feel like robin hood while you're doing it!!

I'm thinking speed walking and table tennis. Or air pistol and table tennis. Something and table tennis.

Sounds yummy.I would LOVE copy-editing. I'm not claustrophobic. Especially around food.

Hmmm, choices choices, eh?

Though table tennis is extremely, uh, exciting, well I think I know something for you Ally.

You don't have to be strong.

Or fast.

Or a complete athlete prodigy.

And its an actual 'sport.'

I like it.

Its...

(ellipses rock!)

Badminton!

And a plus, the court is cute and mini!:P lol.

Stick with writing. My sister is in pre team gymnastics, It looks like to much work, not to mention time and money that goes into the sport. Not to mention that Shawn Johnson and the girls are are on very strict diets.

I think you would do great in the olympics! I ahd a dream that I was on the US Olympic swim team; then i saw how fast they swam and well bye-bye that dream!!!!!!!

Hmmmm.... I'd have to go with archery. You need strong arms, but it not a huge physical burden. And it sounds like you've got a lot of people who can help. Definitely archery. Good luck with the copy edits!

Archery (quite 7th grade Gallagher Girl-ish), Ping-Pong, or Speed Walking. Archery sounds coolest and funnest to me. If you start practicing now you could so beat those Olympic pros. We hope. :P

Air pistol or archery. They seem most GG-ish. You could combine sport and research for your writing. :-p

Table tennis is a good one. :)

And, you are totally right, why do the girls have to wear the teeny-bikini?

Archery is really easy to pick up, though table tennis is probably easier to practice. OR maybe you could attend the Olympics and have an amazing time in London :) If you're going to be competing, how much of London would you really get to see??

Archery is awesome, but it requires an *insane* amount of arm strength. I don't mean to insinuate that you're a wimp, Ally, but for real - I couldn't believe how hard it was to pull the string *at all*, let alone far enough to actually shoot an arrow. I am actually thinking of taking up fencing. I mean, it's cool enough that there are swords, but now there are those cool, light-up helmets, too! :)

Ha, did you hear about the restriction on the toxic speed glue that helps you play table tennis? They're banning it! Ah, Ally, don't worry... maybe table tennis will still be a good sport for you!

I think the shooting thing might come in handy for research and all that.

Archery is also a good one, except it can scrape your arm raw. Eew.

Um, Ally? No offence, but I'm pretty sure you're not very good at gymnastics (remember the last time you took yoga classes?). You're way better at writting novels, so just stick with it, 'kay? For everyone's benefit. Thanks!!

PS Of course doing sports once in a while would do you some good, don't forget that!!!

Fencing would be cool. I actually tried fencing for a while. It was fun until this experience with a sexist coach and... well, lets just say I dropped his class. And any respect I had for him.
But you could totally do it! Except that it's actually pretty hard. I wasn't very good at it. :-p
Let's see... speedwalking could be fun; you could practice while shopping - some people speedwalk around the mall for excersize. I tried it once. It's fun. Just exhausting. But still fun!
And then there's table tennis... Well, olympic gold is olympic gold, right? Then there's also rhythmic gymnastics - you can bend yourself until you snap! (yeah. bad experiences with that one. don't mess around with the hula hoop)... it's harder than artistic gymnastics (which i CAN do, sort of). oh well... it's okay ally - there was a men's synchronized diver who was extremely old, but he was really good so he kept diving. i think he was fifty or sixty or something...
Annnnnyway, you can totally do it, ally! good luck in your quest for olympic gold. ill be rooting for you!

I play soccer and lacrosse so of course I pick soccer cuz they don't have lax... but thats me. If I were you and I wanted to do something easy to learn I would pick speed walking. you don't have to have fast reflects like you do for table tennis. Archery might be easy. IDK. but should def try!!!! tht would be awesome!!!!!
