GG3 ARCs

Hi Gang!

Just a quick word about the DON'T JUDGE A GIRL BY HER COVER Advanced Reading Copies.

1. I don't decide who gets them. I'm sorry. My wonderful publisher is kind enough to send me a dozen or so for close personal friends (and all of mine are already gone, I'm afraid.)

2. If you're going to be attending NCTE/ALAN or you know a teacher/librarian who will be attending, I'll be there signing ARCs during the conference so you should be able to pick up a plain one at the Hyperion/Disney Book Group booth any time or a signed one during my signing time (to be determined).

3. There will probably be ARCs at the other big industry conferences between now and June 9th (publication date). I'm afraid I don't have details right now, but keep an eye out!

4. ARCs are also sent out to reviewers and other industry movers and shakers.

5. If you are a reviewer and would like to request that Hyperion send you an ARC then there is now a special email address where you can write and make your interest known.

Please note the following:

--I will not be making these determinations. There are limited numbers of ARCs every year and there are far wiser people than I who decide how we use them.

--Please request an ARC only if you have a legitimate review following. (In other words, don't just SAY you're a reviewer to snag a copy. Because that would be sneaky. And wrong.)

--In your request, please include the following information (feel free to cut and paste):

* YOUR NAME

*YOUR BLOG/NEWSPAPER/ETC. NAME

*THE LOCATION OF YOUR BLOG/NEWSPAPER, ETC.

*APPROXIMATE AUDIENCE FOR YOUR REVIEWS (CIRCULATION, HITS, ETC.)

*THE MAILING ADDRESS WHERE THE ARC SHOULD BE SENT

*YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS

*YOUR PHONE NUMBER

*ARE YOU A MINOR (YES, NO) AND IF SO WHAT IS YOUR AGE

Again, I'm afraid I can't promise ARCs to anyone, but if you're a reviewer and you'd like to be considered then please email the above information to AllyCarterARC@gmail.com.

And, most of all, THANK YOU for your interest in the Gallagher Girls! I have to say that having GG3 out in the world (even in ARC form) is pretty nerve wrecking, so I really, really hope all of you enjoy it!

-Ally

ps...Just to clarify, ARCs are printed by publishers for people who provide a service to the publishing industry (reviewers, buyers, leaders, etc.)

So unless you have a blog or other review source that the publicity department at my publisher can verify I'm afraid this offer isn't for you.

Also, I'm also very sorry that, in all likelihood, we won't have enough ARCs to go around. I have no idea what criteria the publicity department will use when deciding if a person will recieve an ARC. If I did I'd pass it on. But alas, I don't.

When im just pleasure-reading, i find mistakes that the uber experienced editors missed! i dunno if thats just a gift or something, but email me if u wanna chat about the book.....or maybe, possibly, give me an advance copy and i can edit it for you? i can hope, right? lol ok thanks for your time, ally! I'm not sure what my librarian does....

She gets ARCs all the time. Most recently "The Magic Thief." hat author actually came to our school. So that's probably why we got the ARCs. They're looking for an author to come actually, but I know you're too busy. and with Heist and everything. But, that's probably why our librarian gets the ARCs. Or it may be because the kids she picks to read them review them. I'm not sure. Should I e-mail you with a question like this?

Hey, ally!! Ok so i just wanted you to know even though you don't get tons of people commenting on your diary, tons of people read your book.

I started reading your books (loved the first 2 can't wait till the 3rd)and within 3 weeks EVERY 7th grade girl was reading it...and i mean EVERYBODY!!
everywhere i looked, there was your book! and i am pretty sure almost every 8th grade girl read it but they would never edmit it. they would think it isn't "cool" for them to read something 7th graders read (no affence to any 8th graders on here :-) )

We all can't wait till the third book comes out....and your new serise!!!!!! why does it have to be SO far away??!!! :-)

BTW: i am not trying to brag about getting the whole school reading your book...people just tend to copy me....it is actually pretty annoying.

P.S Surprisingly enough i think i am like all the four main girls

Cammie: Everybody knows my name...people were even calling me Calmenen(spelled wrong)before they read the book(not even kidding on this!!!)
Liz: i'm smart...except in spelling!:-)(not trying to brag)
Bex: Have an acent and LOVE dramatics and adventure. would totally pick CoveOps class!!!
Other Girl: Sorry i forgot her name!! but i know she has a HUGE closet...and so do i!!

LOVE YOUR BOOKS AND CAN'T WAIT TILL JUDGE A GIRL AND THE NEW SERISE!!!!

BTW: i should probably mention why they don't comment: it is beacuse everyone is either REALLY serious about their grades, in TONES of sports or in a club. everyone is just so busy...or we jsut don't think you going on here.

Also, the 7th and 8th grade girl LOVED the books. i didn't want you to think they read it but didn't like it. For like a week that was the lunchtime conversation...people were thinking up ideas for what would happen next and talking about how it would be like if they went to that school.

So love your books! keep on writing!!

Hey Amberlyn, i was in eighth grade when LYKY and i am proud to say that. Maybe it was just at your school, but i helped to get a lot of eight grade girls to read it and they loved it and recommened it to all of their friends. We love you Ally!

P.S. KNITTING!!!!!!!!

Carrubba: the 8th graders at your school sound nice......just some of our 8th graders thought that it was "un-cool"...most were proud to say they read it.

You sound like a great leader: getting all of your friends to read the book and more. i think that is pretty cool. :-)

GTG: i have dance, and soccer practice next.

P.S. CAN'T WAIT TILL THE BOOK COMES OUT!!! MUST GET GG3(I ALREADY HAVE THE OTHER TWO!!!)

P.P.S. what really is "un-cool"?? i think the "populars" and "loseres" thing is SO stupid!!

Hey Ally I love your books and cant wait for GG3 to come out.

I heard about your books at school. At our first media book exchange, one of our assignments was to write down the title of one of the 10 black-eyed-susan books that looked the most interesting to us. Since we only have about three copies, they are hard to get. So, i bought both at the store and i loved them!

Recently, i have also read ESCAPING THE GIANT WAVE by: Peg Kehret and SOMETHING UPSTAIRS by: Avi. They were both great!

Amberlynn, it's good to know that there will be some cool eight graders when you get up there at your school.

P.S. Ally, dear, i hope that you don't think that i am joking about the knitting thing. By posting this comment you are saying "knitting sounds very cool and i plan on picking up needles and some yarn the very next time i go to the store. Plus Carrubba is my biggest fan. "

Also Ally, could you please tell me what NCTC and ALAN mean? i googled NCTC and the National Counter Terrorism Center came up. So did the Nebraska Central Telephone Company. When i googled ALAN, i found alan jackson, alan turning, alan greenspan, even alan musselman. (I only know who alan jackson is). Please help

Amberlynn:
wow, maybe it's a high-school thing, but the 8th graders at your school sound pretty immature. at my school/sleepaway camp, EVERYONE talks about LYKY and CMH. (and, now, DJGC)...
we're all really obsessed. and it's not exactly copying someone if you're reading a book. people pick up books on shelves because they look interesting. i mean, take twilight. the first one was amazing, and now i tried to read breaking dawn and COULD NOT get through it *braces herself for the onslought she is about to get for criticizing breaking dawn. sorry*.
if people were only reading the book to copy you, they wouldn't get very far into it. but seeing as they all bought the sequel, the books are probably interesting and very well written (why am i saying probably? i read them! i know that they're interesting and well written)...
and i think part of the reason bex, liz, cammie, and macey got along so well was BECAUSE a lot of us can look inside ourselves and find parts of them. While they are each predominantly whatever character they play (wow, that sounded sophisticated), they can probably all find characteristics of each other in themselves...

I really wish I could get an ARC but sadly, I am not a reviewer or anything important like that.

Can't wait until June 9th though. I am definitly going to get it the day it comes out.

No need to worry, I'm sure it will be great like the other books.

im now i8n 9th and i read your books in 8th grade. trust me the only reason not many girls from my school post comments or go to your site is becuase they hate to read!!
i dont know why but they do. they can read and all of that but they dont like reading. right now its hard to read any book because of meetings and homework but i can still finish a 300 page book in a week so that i love. now i am reading a book by james patterson and so loving it (sorry for going off topic)you site is awesome you diary is fantastic. have fun with your nieces. if you lived in New Hampshire i would so recommend my friend who helped her aunt in mantana with her newly born twins over the summer. she also babysits a little girl quite awesome. she is also known throughout my grade as a cooking genious, when she gives you a cupcake you dont turn it down!! have fun

For minors interested in handling ARCs, does your library have a Teen group?

If so, volunteer. Ask the Teen Librarian if she needs anyone to read through ARCs to offer their input on if it's good for the library to buy it or not.

Now, for this to happen for you, you really do need to be responsible and able to read quickly and get books back to the librarian promptly and in good condition. But it's doable.

I used to do it. (I'm not a teen anymore. :-) )
