Movie: Heist Society

Big, wonderful news!

Warner Brothers has optioned the film rights to Heist Society!

So does this mean that there will be a Heist Society movie?
Well...no.  Technically, this means there might be a Heist Society movie.

You see, it takes hundreds of people and millions of dollars to make a movie, and while the signs are currently good, there is absolutely no assurance that a movie will get made.

Is it true that Warner Brothers plans to "age the characters up" for the movie?  What does that mean?  Why are you letting them do it?
Yes, as far as I know that is currently the plan.  You can read a detailed post with my thoughts on the subject right here.

Where and when can I try out?
I'm afraid I have no information about casting (nor will I likely be getting any).  I'm sorry.

But when you hear about casting...will you call me?
No.  I'm afraid I can't do that for everyone, so I'd probably better not do it for anyone.  Instead, I promise that if they move forward to casting, and if they have open casting calls, and if they tell me about them (three HUGE ifs) I will post the information on my blog, my twitter, and I will send out a newsletter with the information.  (Sign up for the newsletter right here.)

What's new with the movie right now?
Currently, the facts are these: Warner Brothers has optioned the rights.  DiNovi Pictures is signed on to produce.  And Shauna Cross (the screenwriter behind Whip It and If I Stay) is working on the screenplay.

Nothing else can or will happen until the screenplay is finished and they see how it shapes up.  Really, truthfully, at this point it's all in Shauna's hands.

Can't you tell us more about it?
There actually isn't that much more to say at the moment.  But I highly recommend you read about the Heist Society option in Variety.
